Key automotive industry applications
Modern electrical trace heating plays an important role in a wide range of industries, including the automotive industry. Adhesive technology in particular has an ever increasing
reliance on heating solutions, especially with the trend towards adhesive applicator robots replacing more conventional welding set-ups. Indeed gluing is now an extremely
high tech and heavily relied-upon process, enabling considerable savings in process time. 70% of all assembly processes in modern car production are now glued. Car doors for
example are now 100% glued, in order to maximise crash safety characteristics. New high tech adhesives make the car frame and body lighter and safer. Indeed, the modern
light-weight car would simply not be possible without the advances in adhesive technology.
Commonly used adhesives include single and multi-part glues, polyurethanes and epoxy resins, as well as structural adhesives; all providing critically important and different
characteristics.
Temperature maintenance of these adhesives is a crucial aspect of ensuring a smooth process flow.
